VUILD ARCHITECTS is a group of architects pioneering the next generation of architecture using digital and parametric methods. The team is composed of designers, engineers, and fabricators who are passionate about craftsmanship, and by making full use of digital fabrication technology installed in its own factory. The team performs the entire process from design to fabrication of building components.

Founded in 2017 and starting our career in furniture design-build, we have extended our design focus to the residential and architectural realm. Our launching architectural project, "House for Marebito," completed in 2019, received a Good Design Gold Award and numerous accolades both within and outside of the industry. With this successful experience as a tailwind, we are now embarking on the design of buildings of various sizes.

In all of the experimental and cutting-edge projects we have worked on, we have boldly taken on challenges without fear of failure while collaborating with the creative client. By thoroughly questioning conventional commonsense and assumptions, we disregard preconceptions of the existing building industry and intend to produce innovative architecture through unprecedented processes.

Purpose

Create landscape to the next generation

Architecture is a gift from the people of the past to those of us living in the present. In this sense, we want to create architecture as a beacon of hope that contributes to the development of the next generation. To this end, it is essential to have clients who understand cultural values, and we believe that our mission is to support such clients and collaborate with them. With a long-term perspective, we will connect with the history and culture of the past to create a better future.

Manifest

  • Collaborative

We design through interactive and creative dialogue, listening to what the client has to say, and working with the client's ideals and challenges. Our ultimate goal, as advocates of democratization of Architecture, is for the client to feel that "they, themselves made this architecture", and we are committed to designing experiences that allow the client to participate in the process of producing architecture with a sense of ownership.

  • Creative

We believe that the essence of architecture lies not in abstract concepts, but in tactile construction. That is why we have our own tools of production and the inhouse builders to create our designs by envisioning from the way we build. In this way, we explore innovative architectural expressions that are unique to our projects, while ensuring economic efficiency and feasibility by having in-house production.

  • Regenerative

We aim to achieve both living comfort and improvement of the global environment. We want to realize cozy and luxurious comfort without imposing an environmental burden. To this end, we work with experts to propose architecture with high environmental performance and low environmental impact through analysis of local climates and environmental simulations.

  • Innovative

If the process changes, the outcome changes. Therefore, to bring innovation to architecture, we should innovate the process by which architecture is created. To this end, we are taking on the challenge of restructuring the supply chain by digitally managing the entire design and production process. By systematizing the methods we have learned through these practices and opened them up to the public through our operations, we will bring about social change through what we call ‘democratization of architecture’.
